2014 – What a Year!

Happy New Year!!! I honestly cant believe its 2015, the last 12 months have been a whirlwind for me!

2014 marked the first year for my little photography business  and I was mega nervous at the start of the year when I was starting out, but I needed not have worried it has been wonderful. I have got to share so many special moments with my clients. I have witnessed tears of joy and happiness, I have giggled with kids, snuggled newborn babies, welled up at Daddy’s seeing their daughters in their wedding dresses for the first time, I have laughed at best men’s speeches, I have seen some crazy dance moves and I have loved it all!

I will admit the past year as been a steep learning curve, there is SO much that goes on behind the scenes in running this little business, I really had no idea how much ‘other’ work was involved beyond the picture taking.  I have set up my own website, became an administrator, blogger, accountant, editor, marketing manager and supply researcher all rolled into one. Add into the mix the addition of a beautiful new baby boy and you can see that 2014 has been a crazy one for me!

There have been many late nights where I have struggled and felt defeated but these were soon forgotten about when I had the privilege of  having my photos featured on some of the top wedding blogs and wedding magazines to include Ulster Bride, Irish Brides and Inspire Magazine. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would have my work featured on wedding blogs and in magazines and most definitely not in my first year. I have had to pinch myself a number of times on my journey so far.

I would like to thank each and everyone of you that has booked me, it has been an honour to capture your weddings, families and newborn babies.  I would like to also take this opportunity to thank my husband Gareth and my Mum who have been so supportive and without their help this dream of mine would not have become a reality. My Mum has racked up lots of babysitting hours whilst I edit photos until my eyeballs hurt and my husband has been there for me in my moments of self doubt and struggles. Thank you both of your help and encouragement, I appreciate it more than words can say.

I am so excited for the year ahead and already have my first session of the year booked in for this weekend. Here’s to all the couples and families I get to capture this year, I can’t wait!

In the meantime, here’s a little insight into my year through my camera lens. Lots of these sessions haven’t been blogged yet, so you may spot yourself!
