I enjoy capturing engagement shoots, I mean whats not to enjoy about photographing two people full of love and excitement, in epic locations! An engagement shoot isn’t a necessity when it comes to wedding planning but its an option for you to consider – and a lovely one at that. Maybe your sitting on the fence trying to decide whether to have an engagement shoot or not, so Ive put together a list of reasons to consider if its for you.
- Get more comfortable and learn to love the camera
So many people including myself hate having their picture taken and freeze when a camera is pointed in their direction. However, most people have never had their photo taken professionally! An engagement shoot is a wonderful opportunity to have a little warm up and practice run in front of the camera before your wedding day. You will be amazed how relaxed and fun it can be to have a professional photographer take your photo. Come your wedding day you will be totally comfortable in front of my camera and will give Kate Moss and David Gandy a run for their money.
2. We get to know each other!
Believe it or not I am the person you will spend most of your wedding day with, as I capture your day from beginning to end. So an engagement shoot is a great opportunity to get to know one another beyond social media before your wedding day. We’ll start the shoot as strangers and before the end we’ll know the names of each other pets, I’ll know your love story, you favourite place to go and of course we’ll share our current Netflix fixes!
3. Time for two
Its a great opportunity to get photos of you as a couple beyond blurry phone photos or selfies. Being engaged is a real celebration, its such a happy and exciting time, its one of life’s journeys that deserves to be preserved in photos to look back on in years to come.
4. Its all about you
Theres no restrictions of a wedding day schedule or a venue setting. We can go explore somewhere meaningful to you, is there a coastline you love to explore? A special place where you proposed? Or perhaps your having a countryside wedding and would like a city engagement shoot? The options and locations are endless when is comes to an engagement shoot!
5. Its FUN
Yes, believe or not most of my couples walk away from their engagement shoot saying they really enjoyed it! Planning a wedding day can bring its stresses and worries, heck, Covid-19 has brought it to up a whole other level! An engagement shoot is a perfect excuse to take a break from the planning. Its the chance to spend a few hours with the one you love, having a laugh and remembering what its all about, the two of you!
6. You get amazing photos
You’ll have beautiful photos that you can use for your wedding website, save the dates or your guest book. They will also be ideal to share with your family and frame for your walls. Of course not forgetting some amazing photos to update your Facebook profile picture and your Instagram feed!
