A stylish summer wedding at Tankardstown House is always something special — but when the day begins at the beautiful Boyne House, you know it’s going to be exceptional from the very first frame.
As a wedding photographer, there are venues you enjoy working at… and then there are venues that truly elevate a wedding day. Tankardstown is firmly in the latter category.
Morning Light at Boyne House
The morning preparations took place at Boyne House, Tankardstown’s sister accommodation, and it is hands down one of my favourite prep locations in Ireland.
The light there is everything.
Soft, natural daylight pours through tall Georgian windows, wrapping beautifully around the bride as she stepped into her dress. The interiors are elegant yet understated — neutral tones, refined details, and spacious rooms that allow everyone to relax without feeling crowded. It creates an atmosphere that feels calm, intimate and editorial all at once.
For couples planning a Tankardstown wedding, I always recommend considering Boyne House for morning prep. It photographs effortlessly and sets the tone for a refined, cohesive gallery from start to finish.
A Traditional Chapel Ceremony
After a relaxed morning, the couple made their way to a charming local chapel nearby. There’s something timeless about an Irish church ceremony — the anticipation as the bride walks up the aisle, the emotion in the vows, the music filling the space.
The groom didn’t hold back the tears, and neither did many of the guests. These are the moments that matter most — the quiet glances, the proud parents, the just-married smiles as they walked back down the aisle together.
Then it was back to Tankardstown for the celebrations.

Champagne Towers
Arriving at Tankardstown House always feels cinematic. The sweeping driveway, manicured gardens and elegant façade make the perfect backdrop for those first married portraits.
The drinks reception was full of energy — hugs, laughter, clinking glasses and that unmistakable buzz that only happens when everyone you love is in one place.

Golden Hour at Tankardstown
Tankardstown’s gardens are a dream for portraits. As the evening light softened, we stepped away for a few quiet minutes. This is where Tankardstown truly shines — the mix of structured gardens, ivy-clad walls and open countryside gives endless variety without ever needing to leave the grounds. It’s ideal for couples who want beautiful imagery without missing their party.

Cake Cutting & One Big Party
Back inside, the celebrations moved seamlessly into dinner, speeches and then one big party.
The cake cutting turned into a moment of pure fun — cheers, laughter and a little bit of playful chaos. Exactly how it should be.
And when the dance floor opened, it stayed full. Tankardstown’s reception room has an atmosphere that builds beautifully as the evening goes on — candlelight, music, and guests fully letting go. From emotional parent dances to packed dance floor shots, it was the perfect ending to a stylish, joy-filled day.
